Ubuntu 11.10 problemi di connessione WIFI lenta

Ciao

ragazzi ho fatto la brutta scelta di aggiornare ubuntu dalla versione 11.04 alla 11.10 e anche se tutto è andato bene al riavvio del pc la connessione alla rete non ne vuole sapere e lenta molto lenta, danto da costringermi ad utilizzare seven.

Ora ho visto che all'inizio si puo' optare per tornare al kernel precedente ma questo non effettua nulla di positivo, mi chiedo se c'è un comando da digitare per ritornare alla versione precedente o se devo formattare e perdere tutto.

Per il downgrade lascio la parola ai più esperti di me, ma per la lentezza di rete ho trovato questa possibile soluzione:

sudo /etc/modprobe.d/ath9k.conf >> options ath9k nohwcrypt=1

È un comando da terminale; devi inserire la password di root dopo averlo dato.

per ignettare quell'opzione all'interno di quel file di conf devi utilizzare gli ECHO

echo options ath9k nohwcrypt=1 >> /etc/modprobe.d/ath9k.conf

a patto che stai utilizzando una connessione wireless con chipset atheros con relativo firmware ath9k
il collegamento e' via ethernet o wireless?

Questo comunque mi sembra strano. Se si tratta di modem non configurato, potresti provare con:

sudo pppoeconf

E vedi se ti rileva qualcosa da configurare.

Il portatile è collegato ad internet tramite una connessione WIFI.

Sinceramente da quando ho aggiornato ubuntu tutto è più lento e molto più lento, pensate che sullo stesso portatile ho seven ed è un fulmine in confronto.

prova ad usare una versione live di ubuntu 11.10 tanto per capire se il problema è dovuto all'avanzamento o alla nuova versione di ubuntu
riguardo alla velocità (del sistema) ho sempre pensato che gnome fosse molto pesante prova ad usare xfce

Dunque, io partirei da:
1- che scheda wifi hai? con lspci e lsmod dovremmo ottenere abbastanza info
1.1- nel caso sia una scheda intel, potresti provare a fare il downgrade del firmware (a me con l'ultimo andava solo a 54 invece che a 150 Mbps)
2- posta il risultato di iwconfig, così vediamo potenza e bitrate
3- anche l'output di dmesg non sarebbe male, così vediamo se qualcosa ha creato problemi

nel caso sia una scheda intel, potresti provare a fare il downgrade del firmware (a me con l'ultimo andava solo a 54 invece che a 150 Mbps)

Mi pare sia una intel ma non so come fare il downgrade, ricordatevi che sono ignorante in linux quindi dovete scrivere i comandi corretti in modo tale da poter fare un copia incolla nella console.
